Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a commemoration ceremony marking the 40th day since the Leader's martyrdom in Ajmer, India, Hojatoleslam Sayyid Naqi Mahdi Zaidi declared that the sacrifice has transcended tragedy to become a catalyst for renewal.
"The martyrdom of the Supreme Leader has drawn the world's attention to Shia Islam more than ever before and created a new wave of hope, awakening, and resistance in the Islamic world," Zaidi told the gathering.
Martyrs Are Alive and Continue to Inspire
Citing the Quranic verse "And never think of those who have been killed in the way of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision," Zaidi emphasized that martyrs remain eternally present in the life of the Muslim community.
"According to the teachings of the Holy Quran and hadith, martyrs are alive — and their life is not limited to their own existence," the Friday prayer leader of Tara Garahi said. "Through their sacrifice, they breathe new spirit into the body of the Ummah and shape the path of society."
Zaidi stressed that when martyrdom and knowledge unite in a single individual, that person achieves two forms of immortality — the life granted by martyrdom and the enduring legacy of scholarship.
A Leader Who Longed for Martyrdom
The Indian cleric described Ayatollah Khamenei as a figure who consistently yearned for martyrdom throughout his life.
"He was always eager for martyrdom, and God Almighty finally fulfilled this long-held wish," Zaidi said, noting that the Leader was martyred while fasting at the hands of criminals and enemies of humanity.
"The martyrdom of the late Leader will have vast and lasting effects on the region and the Islamic world," he added. "America and its allies will face greater disgrace before public opinion and free nations."
Scholar and Spiritual Giant
Zaidi praised the late Leader's scholarly, jurisprudential, ethical, and spiritual stature, describing him as one of the most distinguished figures of the contemporary era.
"Ayatollah Khamenei held an exceptional position in jurisprudence, ethics, and insight," he said. "His scholarly works and spiritual character can inspire generations to come."
The cleric noted that when figures of the caliber of Ayatollah Bahjat and Ayatollah Javadi Amoli speak of a scholar's spiritual station, the depth of that individual's significance becomes clear.
A Turning Point in Shia History
Zaidi framed the martyrdom as a historic turning point for Shia Islam, urging followers of the Ahl al-Bayt to seize the moment.
"Today, more than ever, we must work with vigilance, seriousness, and planning in the scientific, intellectual, and cultural arenas," he said. "We must use the capacities that have emerged to introduce the teachings of Islam and the school of the Prophet's household."
He expressed hope that through the blood of the martyrs, the region would be freed from foreign interference and that Iran would continue its path with even greater strength and resolve.
A Life of Faith and Resistance
Reflecting on the Leader's legacy, Zaidi described a life steeped in faith, sincerity, piety, insight, courage, and endurance.
"His entire blessed life was filled with these qualities, which were evident throughout his years of scholarly, religious, and social activity," he said.
The cleric cited remarks made by Ayatollah Javadi Amoli during funeral prayers for the martyred Leader, saying they captured his faithful character, sincerity, religious service, and spirit of struggle for the Islamic Ummah.
Martyrdom as a Message of Hope
While acknowledging the profound grief of losing such a figure, Zaidi emphasized that the martyrdom carries a greater message.
"Although separation from such a great personality is bitter and heavy for us, his martyrdom has created new spirit and energy in the Islamic world," he said. "It has sparked a new wave of awakening and attention to reviving Islamic values."
He concluded by declaring that God has promised the future belongs to the oppressed and the deprived, and that the martyred Leader — through his life, struggle, and ultimate sacrifice — demonstrated this divine promise in action.
"The duty of the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) is now to draw inspiration from his path and continue the journey of awakening, unity, and dignity for the Islamic Ummah."
